I don't know how many people have tried this game, but it looks as if this sci-fi MMORPG is making a comeback.

Personally, while the idea of a sci-fi MMO is interesting, many factors prevent me from looking into it:

I'm still having fun in WoW and our guild to consider dividing time on a new game (I'm too close to making 70, dammit!).
As of this post, only those with valid accounts can log back in right now.
The trial is free but the site is vague on whether continued play is free or fee.
No Mac client.

What I find most interesting about this news is how a game that's been shut down has a chance of revival. Most non-MMO games I used to play would have no chance of being revived and put out there; fans would have to resort to finding the game on torrents or usenet groups, and then having to deal with various sorts of emulators or patches if the game was too old. The people who hold the rights to such games would not see much in releasing the game as is. They would probably gun for a re-make (or 're-imagining') with updated graphics and game mechanics that would probably 'break' the gameplay for old fans of the game in the name of trying to reach a new crowd.
With an MMO like this, there are people who see potential in reviving the game. With the internet, there isn't much of a need to physically publish the game again, and there's a built-in fanbase ready to pick up on the game again. Of course this all depends on how the company plans the get revenue from this game, either ad-support or fees.

So has anyone here ever tried Ryzom? Liked it? Hated it?
